Purpose
The Conference is aimed at sharing information and analyzing how policy makers, research centers, independent think tanks and companies producing goods and services for senior people in Japan are: (i) elaborating strategies in order to take care and empower a better quality of life of aged people in the constrained environment of a slowing growth scenario; (ii) boosting scientific research and technology development to tackle and alleviate some of the major problems connected with the management of the process; (iii) helping the updating of industrial capacity, in order to exploit opportunities that economies of scale offer to provide goods and services for senior people.
Background
The ageing Asian population is one of the main challenges of the next 20 or 30 years. Changes in the age structure of a population inevitably impact in an inter-connected and complex way on many aspects of society, economy and environment. The ageing population affects several key aspects of developed and emerging economies, including retirement systems, labour markets, public budgets and industrial structures, with spillovers in the dynamics of consumption and production of goods and services.
